the phila Flyers brought about a new mascot this year, Gritty, who looks like a nightmare.

phila is a largely anti-trump town, and gritty was very soon taken over as a symbol by various types of lefties. that seemed a bit remarkable to me: i'm unaware that any other american sports mascot or logo has been assumed by lefties. it's usually rightwiners/militarists/morons who colonize the major league sports stuff

Gritty became a leftist meme because Philly loves a righteous hooligan

gritty seems sound, and as you can see above, is trying to learn his communist history, but so far his politics seem limited to reformism. he hasn't yet learned that united, selfconscious activity by the proletariat is the road to revolution.
