GPS inaccurate with Maps - what is the reason? any experiences?

Hi there! I have had a problem with my GPS signal on my smartphone for a long time. Do you know this blue thingy on the app that shows you where you are and it shows as well the direction you are looking at. However this blue circle is totally inaccurate, at least at my phone. Sometimes its direction is on the completely opposite site. It’s kinda annoying and I wanted to ask what I can do to solve that reason. Furthermore, the blue thingy is super inaccurate as well…sometimes I’m located like 200 meters next to the point that is being indicated on the phone…Heeelp! Thanks in advance :)

If it's showing you in one place, not moving, then jumping when you've moved a few hundred yards then you don't have gps turned on and it's triangulating from mobile masts. If it's just shit and innacurate then it's either a shit phone or you're using it somehwere with a lot of tall buildings.

If the orientation is not correct then likely the solid state digital magnetic compass needs recalibrating.

Hey guys, thanks for all the answers and your help!

platiniumsage, the GPS is turned on...but yes, it might not work properly? It is quite possible that it is determining the location from cellular and Wifi signals...I can change that in the settings. What is the most accurate method in your opinion?

maomao, the phone should be good enough...it's a S7 edge...it cost me a lot of money back then hehehe tall building can be found here, but I have to say that my GPS signal is rather worse in rural areas than in the city. However, it's really annoying when on Maps it looks like I'm going into the right direction, even though this is not the case at all…XD

2hats, thanks for the advice. I have not yet tried recalibrating the solid state digital magnetic compass. I will give it a try and hope that the GPS signal will be more accurate after recalibrating the compass!

Thanks guys!!

The digital magnetic compass provides data input for orientation determination not spatial positioning.
