I noticed yesterday that it wasn't working, so restarted my phone and now it has just vanished.
It's not something I installed myself, it came with the phone system and was actually impossible for me to remove even if I had wanted to.

I'm going to be needing a map tonight, so will my daughter (same phone type). Anyone know why this has happened/ What can I do?

Are you sure you haven't just moved it into a group of programs somewhere on your phone top. I know how easy it is with fat finger syndrome to move something you didn't want to move.

No. It was on my phone desktop but also in the google folder where it was not possible to move it from. If stopped working and showed an android logo instead of the maps icon. I restated my phone and it vanished from both locations.

I said an android phone is that not enough? Would you know the answer if I told you the make? I honestly don't know, besides as mentioned it's now reinstalled.

All Android phones have particular software installed by their manufacturer, so yes in general you need to know the phone model to provide tech advice.

To feed the conspiracy...This happened to me with Android Chrome...Quite bizarre.

Just disappeared. Went to the Play store and had to (iirc) re - enable it (I think its one of those apps you can't uninstall). As soon as it was re-enabled it was exactly immediately back to the state before it disappeared.

I re-installed but it has decided it's not an un-removable part of the system anymore and has not aligned itself with the other google apps as before.
