Yep. this is about the third Golfrate thread. There's one about the Fridge and at least one other floating about.

I reckon they saw that there are plans afoot fro Brixton and have bought up everything they can before regeneration pushes prices up.

And perhaps more to the point before the adoption of a final 'masterplan' is adopted and becomes the framework for any change of use decisions etc.

Surely it can't be a good thing to have the entire High St owned by one landlord? Doubt there is much the council can do about it, though.

My reading of it is that the main guy isn't a major developer in the sense of 'knock it down, build a big new building' - he's much more of a 'rennovate quickly and rent out' guy.

Plus he seems to do a bit of development and a bit of selling flats that he buys bundled up with shops:

When I was in Colliers Wood recently I noticed one of those Golfrate signs on The Tower - which is an incredibly ugly and massive office block that editor had took photos of back in December http://www.urban75.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=6964289&postcount=3

I'm not sure why they feel the need to pepper the place with their signs just to let us know they've bought loads of stuff.

I don't even know if they are supposed to do this - I'm not sure what the rules are about putting up "acquired by" instead of "for sale" signs are.
