Gear cable snapped inside lever on road bike. Easy way to fix it?

I have no idea if it is adjustable or not
And it's the smallest cog at the front and the smallest cog at the back.
I'm gonna have to take it in to a shop. It's beyond my ken.
£1 - hardly a gamble !

28 x 11 x 28 inches - 71 inch gear... I suppose that's do-able on the flat, but must be an effort to hit a decent speed...

What's only a pound?
The gear cable inner.

Oh I forgot about the BB.

I bet it's the old type with a knurled ring or perhaps it needs a peg spanner ?
In which case it probably needs stripping and greasing.

Is it an old steel-framed bike ?
Are the pedals fixed with cotter pins ?

My sealed BBs seem to last for ever, whereas I'll have to replace my colleague's because his bike is parked outside a lot. His tyres rotted rather than wore down.

I don't know gg! I have no interest in these things so anything anyone tells me about it slips out of my mind immediately!

Such a shame you don't live near me, I could have the thing sorted in an hour.

My own bike goes up on the stand at around 10am on a Saturday - so approx every 100 miles.
I try to spend no more than half an hour on the basics, plus perhaps another half hour on longer term things like oiling cables or replacing brake blocks.

I probably actually enjoy it these days - it's a small price to pay for my and others' safety and the 10 problem-free and enjoyable hours of cycling I get every week..
