Snow?Weather forecast
Long way to go of course
its more sleet than snow being forecast at the mo...high of 9 low of 3 means it wont settle...itll be fineIt's more the getting there on the train that may be the issue
One Week!!! - yay!...its two weeks away anyhow...
that pub around 4pm i guess?I can't do the walk but would be up for joining you in Southend (I love Southend)
If you really want the snow, we could delay for a week?I was looking at the wrong week
I swear it was in two weeks time the other day
You'll have a couple of options - we'll be sure to catch a pub in Leigh (accessible by train), and will then end up at the Railway Hotel (also on the same line). You could easily do both, on the train as we walk between pubs (give us a wave).I can't do the walk but would be up for joining you in Southend (I love Southend)

its two weeks away anyhow, forecast is as good as meaningless at this point
Great idea! .I did optimistically check on google maps but it would take me 3 and a half hours to get to Southend. Can you organise the next one more in my direction please?
Bloody windmill! That was by my old school!
Once got train from Fnechurch Street to end of line at Shoeburyness then walked most of way back via likes of Southend, Westcliffe, Leigh Etc. Twas a great day even though the weather was not brilliant.
Great stuff. How far back did you get on foot?A great walk, enjoy; did it the other way but from the end of the line...
Not bad . Yeah Shoeburyness is fascinating with all the weird secret military stuff that goes on up there, plus the added frisson of knowing there is one of the worlds biggest unexploded bombs just off shore, that if it ever goes off will be 'the biggest non-nuclear explosion the world has ever seen' or something. Plus loads of kite surfing going on.I think we settled for Leigh on Sea because of hills, circuitous route around Canvey and availability for stations there after and because of a few pubs in there which we had to try and couldnt walk far afterwards.
PS the far end up at Shoeburyness was great. it was an area we really didn't know and was very interesting for historical connections.
