Free energy saving stuff?

Johnny Vodka

The Abominable Scotsman
Last night had a guy at my door from a company that installs heat pumps, solar panels, etc. He said I can get the work done for free if I earn under a certain amount (seem to qualify). I googled afterwards and it does seem to be legit - basically a grant given under certain circumstances by the Scottish government. Anyone else had work like this done? Am I missing any catches? :hmm:

The funding is legit (iirc often a mix of grant and loan depending on your circumstances and what you get done, so you might need to pay some back) but make sure you get proper advice about what would be suitable for your home and what funding you qualify for, and use a reputable company to carry out the work. The fact they knocked on your door without you contacting them first would make me :hmm: about going with the ones you already spoke with.

A few useful links on this page re funding and installers

Yeah, I filled out a home energy Scotland email form tonight. So far I don't actually see how I would qualify.. though there might be additional chances because I'm classed as rural and there's no gas supply to where I am.
