So what's the score with Finland then? I have a friend over there and they want me to visit. Is it like the other Nordic countries..i.e really fucking expensive to go out of a night? Any places I should visit? I know I will have a local but they are in Helsinki. Thinking of going for 5 days in March.

More expensive than Denmark, cheaper than Norway, especially the booze. Nice architecture. I recommend the museum of modern art, the one opposite parliament, if you like that sort of thing.

I can't remember whether it is Norway or Finland where parsnips are about 3 euros each. Take some with you anyway. At worst you can eat them.

If you are after decent priced pint, you should visit Kallio district (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kallio). It's not too far away from city centre, approximately 1+ mile.
Prices for the pint (Finnish lager) are from 2 to 4 euros in there. Area itself is lively and worth to visit anyway.

Spent a few hours in Helsinki when watching Wales play football there (stayed in Tallinn, Estonia, and got the ferry over).

7 euros a pint just about sums it up for me. I am sure there is more to the place, but that is what i will remember about it.

I reccomend a day trip to Tallinn while you are there, ferries frequent and cheap and the medeval old town is far more interesting (not to mention cheaper)
