It was a good game , very sobering for Real Madrid who I thought pre match would win tbhAnyone see Real Madrid v Barca last night?
Barca are a bit special - packed to the rafters with young players from La Masia, alongside a sprinkling of established stars like Lewandowski.
Cubarsi (CB, 17), Balde (LB, 21), Casado (DM, 21), Pedri (CM, 21), Gavi (CM, 20) and Yamal (RW, 17) are all established first team picks, and they dismantled Real Madrid 4-0 in their own back yard. Just incredible to watch, if you could get past the constant Real Madrid offside (Mbappe, looking in your general direction) and whining.
Madrid looked hopelessly unbalanced - could argue that Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham and Camavinga were all well away from their best positions. It doesn't help that Mbappe and Vini are essentially the same player (both wanting to play from the left but coming into central positions) - they get into the same spaces and leave a massive hole where a CF should be.It was a good game , very sobering for Real Madrid who I thought pre match would win tbh
Mbappe's not the player he was a couple of years ago. Too much extra weight even if it may be muscle.Madrid looked hopelessly unbalanced - could argue that Mbappe, Vinicius, Bellingham and Camavinga were all well away from their best positions. I thought that. He was such a whippet - unless he gave a defender a 5 yard start it wasn't even a contest in a sprint. He looks more powerful now, able to do the forward's hold up and link play, but just a tiny fraction of that searing pace and acceleration wasn't quite there. I think he knows it too, hence all the offside - 2018 Mbappe would have been on by a yards or 2, backing himself anyway.Mbappe's not the player he was a couple of years ago. Exactly, not the greatest of buys right now. Plenty of empanadas in Madrid to keep him happy though!I thought that.
