One interesting part of this is that a species of banana has already died out in the 50s that tasted better than modern bananas...i wonder how it tasted?
i like those little bananas you can find sometimes in the market...i think theyre from south east asia?

Tiny south east Asian bananas are waaaay nicer than the ones we get here.

You can get Gros Michel banana plants, but it'd cost a mint to properly ripen them - though I believe Bob Flowerdew manages to grow bananas and pineapples in a double polytunnel in Norfolk.

Also seems a bit shitty that Belgium is making more money from reselling bananas from elsewhere than all but one of the countries that actually grows them.
