End of section 21 evictions - what does it mean?

I'd hazard a guess that most of them were born with it, although I'm sure some of them worked for it, which should make it easier for them to adjust to the change.
The problem is, some people are born with money and some work hard for everything they get. Maybe the law should make allowances for that. i.e. ones a landlord owns X number of houses different tax rates affect them. Problem is, right now the laws are stacked up the other way round and hence people get all fired up about it

I think a 100% tax rate should apply to anyone who owns more than 1 rental property.

And what good would that do to the housing market.
Houses would remain empty and in disrepair. Then when the houses are compulsory requisitioned the repair money would come from the public purse. Then the landlords wouldn't be creating a future for themselves and thus they would become a burden on society because they haven't put money aside for retirement.

People on a state pension are a 'burden on society'? Fuck off.

It's already fucked anyway. Apparently, I need 6 months rent in advance if I am to rent via letting agents, despite working full time with a permanent contract. I don't have that and have little prospect of acquiring it, so I will have to live with my father for the forseeable future. I despair for the future for renters.

This shouldn’t happen. The only reason to ask for 6 months is they are either a) dodgy. Or b) you’ve failed a credit check and they are guaranteeing their payment.

If b it’s simply to put you off and I’d look into why you’re failing credit checks.

it's b. lots of people have poor credit - poor people! my dad had to get a bank loan for my sis as she's on UC and has two kids. :(

Well, as many Tories are also private landlords and also multimillionaires, I'd say you're almost certainly correct in that assumption. After Grenfell, Labour tried to get a Bill though Parliament to force landlords to make their properties fit for human habitation, according to this list I've just found on the IBT website, there are 95 Tory MPs who are also private landlords, 72 of those voted against the Bill (including mine - he may be trying to be the country's saviour, but he's still a complete penis pustule). Housing Bill: Tories aren\'t the only party whose MPs are also landlords (I'm more than a little surprised not to see IDS on that list, because he's definitely a landlord)

The point I'm making is that the reason the Bill is taking so long to pass is that those MPs will be making damned fucking sure that it isn't unfavourable to their own interests. MPs should be prohibited from owning rental properties, especially if they're social housing (which I'm sure some of them must be) because, if I was renting I certainly wouldn't want my HB to go straight into a Tory's bank account.

I stand to be corrected, but I think something like 56% of the people who get to make decisions about cuntlords (in Ireland) are also cuntlords!
How the fuck is that not a conflict of interest?!?!?!? How the fuck can a cuntlord have any say in rent caps, etc. ???

As I understand it it's Mrs Duncan Smith who has all the money and property.
