This is what they do in Japan. You can have two people in one bed, but with a duvet each. Makes divorce much less likely imho.

Funny you should say that; I no longer live with my husband and, although there’s a lot I miss about him, I’m loving sleeping under a single duvet, which he would never countenanceSo the answer is divorce?
Double bed, single duvet, huge quilt for if it’s bitterly cold, that mostly sits folded up looking pretty along the foot of the bed, dogI've a single bed and a double duvet. Cosiest thing ever in winter. I just roll myself up in it.
Try turning it 90 degreesI've decided that God does, after all, exist, because how else could a universe come to be where no duvet cover in it is the actual same size as any duvet in it. It's too improbable to be the result of anything other than intelligent and malevolent design.
You are a very naughty boy.Try turning it 90 degrees
Queen bed with a super king duvet on the lowest tog I could find at the time. Feet go off the bed but at least the duvet keeps them warm.Double bed, single duvet, huge quilt for if it’s bitterly cold, that mostly sits folded up looking pretty along the foot of the bed, dog
being as people use zips / buttons / poppers to keep the duvet in, it's surprising you - generally quite a perspicacious poster - hadn't thought about using them to keep other things out.
Yeh hard agree, superking just for me is the minimum now, if anything I would like a larger one. SO seems to be able to have whatever but I need the size, there is over a foot difference in height but also always been a side sleeper hugging the duvet. Sharing the damned things ended up with so much bad sleep in the past. Especially a double if someone was a duvet nicker.Better to size up if you have a double bed and get a king or superking size duvet and duvet set bedding.
No, they've thought of that. They make them nearly square, so that you aren't sure if it's just that they are supposed to be square, or if there's some significance in the slightly different lengths. But they've made sure that whichever way around you try, it's guaranteed to not fit. It's clever stuff.Try turning it 90 degrees
You need to patent that.Best way to solve this problem would be to have a zip run round 3 sides. Unzip cover and place in bed, put duvet on top and zip up.
Or IKEA, they use non standard sizes. If your problem bed is a double, Is it possible that either the duvet or the covers aren’t actually Double size? Or that the duvet has shrunk and is no longer square?
I explained quite clearly in post 157 the reason they don't fit properly.
