Duvet cover hell.

And elsewhere. I think it’s a Scandi thing too.

I stayed over at a pal’s place in Brighton while they were away. They have a huge bed, and a double duvet for each of them. The duvets overlap in the middle. Their duvets are also different weights cos they have differing preferences.

Double bed, single duvet, huge quilt for if it’s bitterly cold, that mostly sits folded up looking pretty along the foot of the bed, dog
Queen bed with a super king duvet on the lowest tog I could find at the time. Feet go off the bed but at least the duvet keeps them warm.

Better to size up if you have a double bed and get a king or superking size duvet and duvet set bedding.
Yeh hard agree, superking just for me is the minimum now, if anything I would like a larger one. SO seems to be able to have whatever but I need the size, there is over a foot difference in height but also always been a side sleeper hugging the duvet. Sharing the damned things ended up with so much bad sleep in the past. Especially a double if someone was a duvet nicker.

Try turning it 90 degrees
No, they've thought of that. They make them nearly square, so that you aren't sure if it's just that they are supposed to be square, or if there's some significance in the slightly different lengths. But they've made sure that whichever way around you try, it's guaranteed to not fit. It's clever stuff.

I change a lot of beds, mostly kingsize or single
I believe Double is a square. King size is annoyingly off square, so I write Long And Short along the edges of both the duvet and the cover, as the open end isn’t a constant.
If your problem bed is a double, Is it possible that either the duvet or the covers aren’t actually Double size? Or that the duvet has shrunk and is no longer square?
I absolutely hate changing every bed that isn’t a single duvet and am so glad I have a system for them
