So when that happened what happened to the Aspire players? Did they stay with Beckenham or did they move with the academy? If they moved with, did Dulwich pay Beckenham compensation/ transfer fees for those players? And is that a precedent to what would happen were Gavin to move from Dulwich?
To take a very unlikely example, say the next Class of 92 were in Aspire: could another club just get them by employing Gavin and him bringing Aspire with him leaving Dulwich with no academy and no compensation?

At the time I believe there was no compensation scheme in place but in recent years that has changed with a sliding scale of payments for players switching Academies from the age of ten. Before that non league youth teams seemed fair game for professional clubs. The cause Celebre was Lee Cook who was “recruited” by our good friends from Watford (older fans will remember Omari Coleman) out of Aylesbury United’s youth team. The Ducks unsuccessfully sued Watford but it definitely set the ball rolling for fair compensation for those non league clubs developing young players…
