Crystal Palace/Sydenham/Penge Chitter Chatter

Ah! Thank you, looks like it’s reopened. I think I’m just usually there too early. Toddler is awake at the crack of dawn. I’ll make an effort to go and check when I’m next there. Usually every other weekend.
Crystal Palace Park is a brilliant place for little people, there is so much do do for all ages.

Quick mention for Maple Road market in Penge. Last Saturday of the month (so today). Currently at St Johns primary school from 10am. Lots of local traders selling food, drinks crafts etc.
I will be popping in after work.

Maple Road is such a great road....but why? I think its purely because of the street lamps! Funny what difference something like that can make

On Wednesday I noticed a van with 08.05.18... grafitied on it. Turns out it has been sprayed all over Penge and Sydenham, vans, walls etc, but it is a mystery as to why.

That's sad to hear - I've been in there about ten times (it's a relatively recent discovery and is a great little boozer) and I've never seen the pig, I was beginning to think someone was having me on until pics shattered my doubt. 13 years old I think from a quick bit o' searching.

McDonald's has applied again for a shop space on the triangle...
The one in Sydenham is run very badly, but at least it being in the corner of a retail park at Bell Green it is out of the way. Cant McDonalds just have 'dark kitchens' for those foolish enough to order a delivery which usually comes cold and with half the items missing? As i notice their TV adverts target 'McDelivery' heavily so it must be a corporate aim to shift most of the business that way.

They applied for just a delivery one in CP before but that was turned down and now they’re going for a full ‘restaurant’. Not sure why a dark kitchen couldn’t be more out the way like you say. I’ve been in a KFC and a Pret recently and the staff seemed openly hostile to customers. Can’t really blame them.

First I heard of it it was going to be at the old 'spoons; yesterday they're now saying the Poundland next to Sainsbury's if one of the local blogs is to be believed.

Not that I needed much of an excuse to avoid Sainsbury's since their recent re-org but not wanting to go near the sickly McD's "aroma" will certainly help my fortitude.

Interesting. Thought it would be an empty one.
The CP Sainsburys is never an enjoyable experience somehow, the Selhurst big one much better.

Hopefully, this is a step forward for the family of the Late Michael Jonas and anyone else that was impacted by his murder:

Six charged with Michael Jonas murder in Penge five years on

With today's imprisonment of Divon Henry-Campbell, Jamie Marshall, Jason Smith, Sorraviho Smith, Ryan Brown and Nyron John-Baptiste, hopefully a father and his family will now find some peace, and the streets will be slightly safer:

Six convicted for murder of Michael Jonas in Betts Park

Penge 'rapper' Nyron Jean Baptiste slaughtered two boys one year apart

Father finds peace as son's killers are jailed

Update on McDonalds on the Triangle:
I've just been informed that McDonalds will not be pursuing a new Westow Street site at this time. Thanks to everyone who has already contacted me about this to share their views.
I will, of course, continue to keep local residents informed as to any further developments on this issue.

Thinking of going down to see the dinosaurs in a couple of weeks. Someone told me they looked quite shabby and neglected last time they went. True?
