Concerned, DWP have not sent me my annual pension enquiry form

panpete

Blokes name, birds body.
I'm on cont based ESA and I am on a small pension, as I was pensioned off by my employer due to ill health.

At the beginning of every April the DWP send me a pension enquiry form, for me, to complete, letting them know this years pension, so that they can deduct the right amount of ESA off me as it changes every year.
I complete it and send it back, then my ESA deduction gets worked out accordingly.

Well, it's nearly May and the DWP have not sent me a form.
My WCA was due last year.

Does the fact that the DWP have not sent me this years pension enquiry form mean that they are going to send me an ESA50 WCA form any minute?
Thanks

I'm too nervous to call them, I go to pieces on the phone and it takes me a while to get over the call. I know this sounds pathetic, but its just the way that I am. The last thing I need is an ESA50 popping through my door, not at this time, I need more time, not ready for work, nowhere near, Im even worried that I would hurt someone with one of my meltdowns, I'm not violent, but I hurt a man who was trying to restrain me during one of them, and it made me feel terrilble, plus he could have reported me but he never cos he said he understood self harm as he had it, but workplace people are not that understanding.

Email them or see if there's an online form on their website

Pete, the thought of making the call is daunting yet not making it is leaving you to catastrophise about what might happen. The chances are you are tearing yourself up imagining the worst when it could be an admin error on their part or something else less catastrophic. Not making the call is causing you stress.

Make that call Pete, just think how much better you will feel after its been explained. Bank holiday this weekend so you don't have to even think about it till Tuesday.

A few thoughts -

Have you still got last year's letter (or is it the kind of thing where you send the whole thing back)?

If so, is there an address you could write to instead? (or an e-mail address)

Or is there anything on there that says they are getting the info direct from your former employer, or that it's now your responsibility to inform them rather than them go through the stage of writing and asking?

I'd agree that the more likely explanations are (a) the post office have eaten the whole thing or (b) the DWP are a bit slow this year.

Possibly easier said than done, but it's easier to look for the simple - and most likely - explanations for something rather than jump straight to a 'worst case'

You could always check on the DWP website see if they've gone over to online forms, it would be just like the arseholes to have put in miniscule print on the form they sent you last year that they were going over to online only

Hi hits wednesday now, I still havent rang. it's a civil service pension. For the first time, this year there has been a freeze, this years amount is the same as last years, I just noticed on the letter, do you think that is probably why they never sent one out, as there'd be no need.

You are asking us to guess. Our guess is as good as yours.

Have you checked whether you can contact them via email too? You must try to get in touch even if not by phone. You'll be fine and it'll be a weight off your mind too. Please don't leave it unresolved. You can do this :)
