Finger on the pulse of whats happening me, whose best out of Blur or Oasis?

I reckn Blur probably a bit more interesting, despite being slightly more annoying.

this is a compulsory poll - lurkers too. Commnets such as "who cares" are not an excuse for not voting.

I know this has been done before, but i think things look a little different 15 years on - or not.

any other thoughts on the legacy of brit pop would be appreciated too.

Remind me which was which. Which was the more boring moany, whining group. There is one of the groups that I hated intensely, but which was which eluded me.

its a question of which is more creative and helps me sleep from the relentless noise.....im not a fan of repetition so the obvious choice is Blur.

I have now done my homework, courtesy of YouTube and can definitely say that Oasis was the awful whiney, dreary group. Wonderwall is the song that I most hate of all the productions of the entire pop genre going back to pre-history. There is only one thing worse than Wonderwall sung by Oasis, and that is Wonderwall sung by someone in a karaoke. It seems to go on forever.

Blur are also pretty dire, but I don't hate them as much. I suppose they were trying to be like the Beatles for a new generation. Pity they picked the worst aspects of Beatles style.

I am not going to vote in the poll because I hardly ever do, especially if it is compulsory

EDITED TO ADD: There must be a lurker voting because there are 3 votes for Blur and only 3 people have posted on this thread so far and I haven't voted. Come on lurker come on out and show your face.

Blur win by a country mile. At least they should. Pulp are a very limited band by comparison but they were not even in this poll so shut up.

Blur by far, one of the greatest bands ever. I never really got the whole battle thing though, bands aren't really like football teams and the songs were nothing like each other.

Oasis did a couple of 'anthems' but were fairly limited to my ears. Blur have done loads of albums covering loads of styles and they're lyrics really resonated with me.

Blur were totally not one of the greatest bands ever. They were good, but never the greatest. The whole battle thing was whipped up by shitehawk journos at NME.

and as usual the real story (pulp) passed them by.

I can leave them both tbh. Bunch of trivial mockney cheesemakers vs Beatles-leaching gobshites. If I could wipe them both from history then it would almost certainly make no impact on my musical tastes or history. Well, Karaoke bars and Sunday Supplements could be much better without the pair of them I guess.

Anyone watch the blur doc last night? It was great, really interesting and seemed pretty honest too. Can't vote as on phone but definitely blur, I thought that anyway but their Glastonbury set was fantastic and made me like them even more.

Oasis were a load of wank.

It wasn't actually, i always thought that too. Last night Graham alluded to it being Damon that got their release date changed and Damon didn't confirm that but made it clear he really enjoyed it and is very competitive. It really pissed Graham off because he hated the britpop thing.

eh, interesting. I can see Damon acting the wanker like that, he's a reputation for having a streak of the tosser in him.

Graham pretty much said that too! See if it's on iplayer, it was called no distance left to run.

Having seeing Liam "Dickhead" Gallagher's twattishness shining through more then ever at the Brits this year I can confirm my love of all things blur more than ever.

Blur, of course.

Oasis made a good album though.

But yes, as it's 'compulsory' :D , it's Blur.

When they first came out, Oasis.
But over the years, Oasis sounded samey-samey.
Whereas Blur progressed with the times.
