Cloud Appreciation thread

Various cirrus - mix of cirrostratus with uncinus (mare's tails). Ice crystals being twisted by upper level wind shear ahead of an approaching front.

These were some nice sweeping sunset ones. Not sure what sort. The weather was quite changeable. Heavy rain followed but dry,cloudy, windy but today is sunny with a nice breeze.

I see this sort of thing quite a lot around the summer solstice looking north over London and I always want to think it's noctilucent cloud but really it's just gaps in the cloud I think.

Has to be one of the stratus, probably altostratus.

I saw a rainbow in a cloud this morning

as the cloud drifted off it faded but was only visible on/in that one cloud. I've never seen this before
