Carbon Monoxide alarm going off at 4:22am

They can become erratic when out of date. Is this the case with your alarm?

(Wouldn’t expect anyone to be using gas appliances right now…)

Can you silence the alarm?

I think a CO alarm is to detect CO from incomplete combustion of gas, but I can't imagine you'd have any gas burning going on ATM.

But turn off any gas appliances and open windows etc to improve ventilation.

No idea how old it is. Only moved in a month ago but it could be as old as the boiler I suppose (a decade?) It’s making 4 beeps every five seconds which means it can deduct gas. Fucker woke me up to.

I’ve taken the batteries out of it for now. Yes no gas appliances going at present. I suppose I need to get dressed and sit in my car

Opens doors and windows in your way out.
Thanks. I need to call that number I think as can’t see what else I can do apart from open windows. I’ve got no idea what it could be and aren’t going to stay and find out. No symptoms other than feeling tired which predates me living here

The CO alarm should have a printed expiry date if you take the back off (or else printed somewhere else on the casing).

It’s a gas hob electric oven and I did check that yes when it first went off.

Called the number in Danskis link and followed their instructions to turn gas off. Someone coming in the next two hours or so.

Now sitting in the car as it’s drizzling and this is the only way to keep dry

Bloke came from Wales and West utilities has been, be got here in less than 40 minutes. He can’t find any leak with his special machines when running the boiler so suspects it’s a faulty alarm. He’s left me a new alarm which also didn’t go off.

He’s tested the gas supply at the meter; pressure etc and no issues either.

However he still needed to officially switch my gas off and recommend the boiler gets looked at, but at least I can go back to sleep confident I will wake up again.

Excellent response time  nice to know some things working as they should. Hope all goes ok.

Eta I replaced my carbon monoxide alarm the other month. I really wasn't looking forward to attaching it to the ceiling and reconnecting the wires to it. Then realized I could buy the same model and just replace the bottom half

During the heat wave my smoke alarm would beep intermittently until the temperature dropped below early twenties. It's most annoying and has done it before. Has a mind of it own.

i had to replace mum-tat's carbon monoxide alarm recently - it made the sort of beep that usually means 'low battery' - she got one of her neighbours to replace the battery and it carried on - she got him to take the batteries out again until i could go over at the weekend

turned out it was worn out - according to the bumf, they have an expected life of about 10 years and will beep to say when they have had it.

I have a BG one so when they come and service the boiler they check the alarm as well they replaced it once FOC since they reckoned it was faulty. At least your's playing up now and not in the depths of winter.
