Maybe its time to tear down a few of Victoria's statues and make room for someone who lived his 100th year raising funds to help frontline nurses and doctors.
A man with no hidden agenda. Just someone who wanted to help others.

Surely he is as deserving of
a statue as a pug faced mini monarch who pretty much detested most of her "subjects"..

Yes let's give him a statue. Then we can tear it down because he was a colonialist oppressor in Bangladesh or something. On that ITV documentary about his life, he said to the camera that Indians were crap at riding motorbikes because they were poor farmers. If that isn't racist I don't know what is.

Has he proposed that really?
"Health Secretary Matt Hancock said his contribution will be formally marked.

Describing him as an “inspiration”, the minister told BBC Breakfast: “I will ensure we mark his contribution properly and appropriately at the right moment.”

Asked whether a statue might be built “in possibly his home town or where he was born or in London”, Mr Hancock told LBC: “Yes, I do think that we should find a way, at the right time, to honour the contribution that he made to the NHS and he was an inspiration to so many people.”
