My aunty and uncle who lived down south took me and my older brother up the GPO Tower in the late 60s. I remember being very impressed with it. We never got to eat in the revolving restaurant but be and our kid sneaked in there for a nose around. It all seemed very posh to us wee Salford scallywags. I also remember that one of the floors (I think the one under the restaurant) was basically empty with no one about, no glass in the windows and had a definite multi-story car park feel to it. Hmm... I wonder if that's where the bomb was planted a few years later?
