i'm watching the ladies volley ball bronze medal play off china v brazil - enjoying the tactics

but it made me think, bronze medal play offs in olympics are real matches, intense, the teams feel that they have something to play for, but the world cup 3/4 place play off is always a bit of damp squib non-game


china get the bronze, they seem well chuffed

Silver's an odd one though - it's good but often the margin between that and gold is so tight that it's understandable if people can feel bitterly disappointed. Surely we want people to be aiming for gold and nothing else.

The bronze, well, it can also be disappointing but better than nowt.
