BOUQUETS line the railings of a popular children’s playground where a man was found hanged.
Friends and well-wishers left flowers and special messages for the man believed to be from the Tulse Hill estate and aged between 25 and 35 years old.
His body was discovered suspended from play equipment next to the One O’Clock in Brockwell Park on Saturday morning by a woman walking her dog.
Police were called and forensics teams sealed off the playground and the surrounding park area for several hours while they investigated.
A resident of Arlingford Road, which backs on to the park in Herne Hill, said it was a tragedy.
The mum-of-two, who asked not to be named, said: “I set off to the park with my children on Saturday morning at about 9.30am, as we do most weekends, but park officials said to turn around.
“They said a man had been found dead and that the children’s playground was now a crime scene.
“It seems so macabre that it was the children’s play area. I feel so sorry for his poor family and friends.”
A police spokesman confirmed the body of a man aged between 25 and 35 had been found hanging at the park but added that his death was not being treated as suspicious.
An inquest into the man’s death is due to open at Southwark Coroner’s Court.
