Best way to get taxis in central London nowdays?

I read that when the pandemic arrived, loads of Uber, black cab and private hire cabbies went to work for Amazon/DPD/Waitrose etc, and consequently it was harder to find a cab.

What's the best company and/or app to get a taxi these days? Can you generally get something in 5 minutes during the early evening or is it best to book in advance?

Before christmas Uber and bolt fares went through the roof. I started using Gett (black cab app) as believe or not black cabs were cheaper than bolt and uber. Not sure at the moment as havent taken a cab for a while.

In central London the easiest way is to just wave one down still in the early evening. But if you're cost conscious and can book ahead then its worth looking at the alternatives. Uber, Bolt, Gett, and Freenow probably the most popular.
