Best bank for current account/wages for those with a poor credit score

Didn’t know which forum to stick this in, this one seems the least irrelevant.
I’m fucked off with my bank as they’re shit (though I know they’re all the same), but especially cos Richard Branson took over my bank and I don’t want to give that pretend spaceman cunt a penny. It’s personal.
Maybe an online bank?

Also, I’ve heard there are also apps that help you manage your money better. I’m trying to sort my future finances out and will be getting some budgeting advice from Step Change but a budgeting/money management app would also be potentially beneficial, if anyone has any recommendations

some credit unions do what's more or less a current account, and can offer advice on budgeting and so on. not sure what credit unions there are in your bit of the world, but may be worth looking in to.

nationwide do a current account and a 'basic account' (although seems this is only available to people who don't already have a bank account so you may not qualify) - they are at least still a mutual / building society not a plc and may be less twatty than some banks (i've had a current account with them for over 30 years and had a savings account with one of the building societies they absorbed since when i was a kitten, and don't think i've ever had any difficulties with them)

co-operative bank is not no longer owned by the co-op since it had its troubles - it does still claim to have "a customer-led ethical policy" whatever the heck that means.

I've been with Nationwide ever since I started claiming benefits in 1998 and was refused an account with the Co-operative Bank.

I find them perfectly good for my needs and I like that they are still a Building Society not a bank.

Another vote for Monzo. Very easy to set up, and has all the budgeting stuff built in so you can allocate money to different pots and not spend money you've earmarked for something else, e.g. bills, savings or holiday fund.

We've had Nationwide accounts for years, also stuck with Co-op even longer but their infrastructure is rubbish and their ethical credentials aren't what they used to be. I'd go for Nationwide in a heartbeat if I had to choose.

I went with the co-op cashminder a few years ago after Lloyd’s screwed me over. I’ve graduated to a standard account with them now and never had any issues
