Bass- finger or plectrum

rutabowa

LOSE IT
Which do you use? why? i am just trying switching from plectrum to fingers, it sounds good but it knacks yr finger tips, and my fingertips are acoustic-guitar-hardened so i would have thought they'd be ok.

I used to use fingers, and preferred it, but I had an accident with a window and lost the feeling in the first two finger of my right hand, meaning that I couldn't feel the strings properly and often ended up tearing my fingers to shreds. So pick it was from then, and massively fat ones ftw.

In my old band I used a plectrum, but preferred to only pluck upwards. I simply lacked the ability to do the fast finger plucking necessary for punk songs.

The great John Paul Jones uses his fingers.

Enough said, methinks.

I hope that's just for the spivs, I'm a bit worried it might be a bit on the pussy side.

It has to be the fingers. There's only one good bass player in the universe who uses a pick:
