Bad AI in the wild thread

strange thing for a (non-Netfix) scammer to get involved with, though, no financial benefit for them.

I'm getting increasing number of AI images and videos on the "for you" part of Instagram. They're more believable at first glance, which is progress of sorts, it's just oh so depressing. It's the worst era of the Internet I've known. I've no interest in AI, there is flat out no creativity in AI, but it's like knotweed, choking everything.

I disagree. How do you think AI "Learned" to make pictures? There's plenty of creativity. The result is just an accumulation and amalgamation of other people's creativity.
The question is, how different is that to an artist or musician that takes inspiration from other artists? How different is it to, say, Carl Cox? Is there no creativity in his work?

Adobe AI auto-fills part of a seagull photo with … a bitcoin

Photographer Matthew Raifman took a photo of a seagull in flight. He liked the photo but wanted to clean up some circle highlights on the image. So he put it into Adobe Lightroom, marked the areas to fix with generative autofill … and Adobe’s Firefly image model replaced one area with an image of a bitcoin?!

Others flag similar issues with Lightroom: “I’ve not had recognizable items, but just weird AI slop showing up.”

A test for urban: is this AI?
The image of the two podcasters certainly looks to be (appear when you hit play)
But what about the audio? I think it is but its pretty convincing in this dailogue form:

The next question then is Who wrote the script? Did AI write it?

There are so many possible levels.
AI could have farmed the important talking bullet points. From there AI could have been asked to break this down into bitesize explanations. Once this was satisfactory AI could then have been asked to divide this into the form of a conversation between two people in the style of a podcast. You could then adjust it for more natural interruptions (this is fairly weak though. Needs a little cross talk).
If it was generated from a single prompt it is very impressive, but less so if it was guided on several levels.
It could just be a script that AI voice bots read. . . or an edited AI script fed to voice bots to read.

I think it fails as a simulation though because ultimately, however the content was generated, it sounds like bots reading a script.
