A 22-year-old man armed with multiple guns was arrested on Wednesday in Atlanta after a shopper overheard him loading weapons in a grocery store bathroom.

Charles Russell was entering the restroom in a Publix supermarket when he heard "clicking sounds" coming from a bathroom stall, according to a police incident report. Then he saw an AR-15-style rifle leaning against the wall.

On March 24, 2021 at 01:41 pm Lt. Joyner came over Zone 5 radio and advised that he received a call from Atlantic Station Security that someone was residing inside the restroom of Publix. with an AR-15 style rifle.

ATF Task Force took custody of all firearms and ammunitions, 2 cell phones, 1 body armor, 1 ski mask, 1 bag, 3 keys

The accused, Mr. Marley was charged with:

Criminal Attempt To Commit A Felony (OCGA: 16-4-1) 5 counts.

(that's what the report says, but perhaps they arrested him and decided on the charge later)

Yes, I'd imagine they could bring that charge against anyone who carries a gun and looks sideways at someone.

On a serious point, I think there is debate in America about how much legal knowledge the police have, some argue the police training should be longer.

Tbf less than 300 people are killed by all types of rifles and that includes fuckwitted hunters shooting at rustle in bushes that's why you can buy dayglo orange camouflage.
Although when somebody goes on a killing spree with an AR15 the results are more noticeable than normal.

Its handguns that are the problem but America is still at the precontemplation stage about them.

Where do you get the less than 300 people killed by rifles figure?

Around 60% of firearm deaths in the US are suicides, and rifles are often used, especially among young people and in rural areas.

The data analysis reviewed 3,931 gun suicides in Maryland from 2003 to 2018. About 45% of children and teens used long guns to die by suicide, compared to 20% of adults over age 65 who used long guns. The researchers found that 52% of rural firearm suicides were by long gun, compared to 17% in urban counties.

"In the midst of a suicidal impulse, a person will use what they have. Firearms are particularly lethal. If one is easily available, that will be the method of choice,” says Nestadt. “Holidays and hunting season are times when many young people receive hunting rifles as gifts"

Homicides by murder weapon in the U.S. 2019 | Statista it was 364 murders compared with over 6000 handguns and another 3000 are probably handguns :hmm:
