Aqaba Jordan visa

um

Look like I will be crossing from eliat to Aqaba very soon - hard to find definitive info online

Can I still get a visa on arrival at that border? Some internetz say yes some no - anyone done it very recently?

Tks

Not the same thing but I crossed from Eilat to Sinai few months ago, it was a bit spooky but do-able. I think crossing to Jordan should be fine, people cross to visit Petra all the time don't they (?)
Getting back into Israel was kind of hairy though.

Come across the desert like Lawrence in the famous film and you should get into the town ok

I crossed with visa on arrival. Nice little sticker stamp and a fun chat. Unfortunately that was some 15 years ago so not really that much help I'm 'fraid. I enjoyed the early morning trot through the minefield though and smiled nicely at the Jordanian soldier watching me from his machine gun nest. I guess they've probably still got those.

yeah, it seems pretty fluid and that particular border xing has special status- will call the consular officer tomorrow for clarity.

When you do the Israel border, check the barcode on the sticker they put on your passport ... if you don't get a 5 or 6 as the first digit I'll eat my hat.

(It used to be that 1 was just for jewish israelis = zero 'risk' (and zero interrogation at the border). I was quite proud of my 5 and 6 scored upon last two entries although the 6 led to me be being left sitting on my own in a very small room for almost an hour whilst i have no idea what they were doing).

It still applies but I have learned to have a clean passport & a producible paper trail to ease things along - pointless kicking up a fuss at the border- you cannot win. Keep a low profile and play the game.

I think my problem that time was probably because I was re-entering from Egypt at taba (Sinai), which border actually closed a few days later due to the isis-type issues there. A '1' very impressive though.
