Anywhere decent to fly from Jo'burg?

I'm going to be flying via Jo'burg in January.

While I don't fancy spending any time in South Africa, I was thinking I could take a flight from there to somewhere else. Has anyone got any ideas of where to go from there? Has to be somewhere that's worth visiting for under a week.

I want to save it for a two week tour and when I've got others with me - I've only got enough time to get a week off, and noone will be joining me.

Well I suppose the obvious place is Harare. Not as daft an idea as it sounds--I think the security situation's fine, and it'd surely be cheap.

what do you mean "saving it", there's more to see in South Africa than 2 weeks worth, surely?

Madagascar apparently.

I love Namibia - you would need a car for that though to get around and see stuff properly as the towns/cities are not up to much except Swarkamund (sp) which is nice but cold outside of Jan/Feb.
