This is a bit random, but worth a try. I have a lovely flat in Istanbul, a few minutes walk from the seaside/beaches (they are city beaches but still ok and you can swim there) and five minutes walk from a local train station that gets to the old city/tourist spots in about 20 minutes (and the train costs the equivalent of 40p). There's also a garden front and back where you can sit out and enjoy the company of lots of cats and birds. And a palm tree.
I'm going to be working in the UK this summer and my flat will be empty for two months - if anyone visiting would be interested in staying there, you can send me a message. I'm not doing this as a money making scheme but would like to cover my rent since I'll be paying rent in the UK and in Istanbul the whole time.
Even if you don't want to stay, I'm always happy to give tips about travelling in Turkey.
