Anyone got a small PA system I can use this weekend (Brixton Pound cafe, Sat 29th/Sun 30th July)

Bit of a long shot, but I'm DJing the Brixton Pound cafe on Sat night and then local band The Severed Limb are launching their album there on Sunday.

Both events are free (and I'm doing it for free) so I can't afford to hire a PA, so I was hoping that someone local could drop off something? Just a pair of fairly modest powered speakers & stands would do the job (I've got a mixer etc).

I took a look at it today and it's just a single powered speaker, more suitable for busking but it may still be enough for your needs, so you might be OK.

What happened to the cabs you used to own?

They got absorbed into the Albert. I was being paid back £50 for every time they were used there. I'm still mulling over just buying a pair of £500 Mackie Thump speakers and being done with it.

I have a pair of the Mackie Thumps. Cheap and cheerful, not exactly the worlds best sound but not terrible either. For a budget DJ system for small crowds they're hard to beat really.

I bought the Mackie Thumps. I figure there's going to be plenty of nights where they'll be needed and even if most of them are unpaid community gigs, at least it gives me the chance to play out more.
