For the first time outside Italy, Antonio Gramsci's Prison Notebooks will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute London, from Monday 30 October to Friday 10 November.

Come and see the 33 originals Notebooks compiled by Gramsci during his more than 20 years imprisonment by Benito Mussolini's Fascist Regime.

Following the publication in 1971 of the anthology ‘Selections from the Prison Notebooks’, the interest in Gramsci in the UK has increased constantly. It is Gramsci that introduced the concept of “class hegemony” into the English political language. He also had an acknowledged influence on Ludwig Wittgenstein’s thought on language and power, through Italian antifascist and economist Piero Sraffa, who was, in those years, Professor at Cambridge.

Thanks to Fondazione Gramsci onlus and Fondazione di Sardegna.

Admission is free, opening 30 October at 6.30pm: http://bit.ly/2fQagsV
