Just watched Jimmy McGovern's new standalone drama: Anthony. It's on BBC I player.

One of the most most moving things I have seen for a long time and I recommend it without reservation.

Difficult to say more without spoilers,

I have something to add. The leading actor is an alumnus from the school I teach at. I only taught him in the upper sixth, and only for a couple of hours a week, but even then he was a remarkable young actor. He’ll go far, I suspect.

He was astounding. Not that the rest of the cast wasn’t.

Yep, we watched it and were in bits. Quality piece of writing from Jimmy McGovern, and the cast were fantastic.

We were in bits too, sad obviously but brilliant writing/acting.

Loved how it was stitched together in reverse.
