Annular solar eclipse 10th June 2021 - partial eclipse in UK

Indeliblelink

\......👁&👁......./
If anyone's interested then there's a partial solar eclipse viewable in the UK on Thursday morning.

You'll get to see an annular solar eclipse if you're in NE Canada, Greenland, NE Russia or happen to be at the North Pole.

Maximum eclipse in UK (30%) about 11:14AM depending on location.

Looking for my welding goggles ... or maybe the eye shields I had in France (for the complete one back in 1999, we just managed to get into the area you could see the totality - absolutely stunning experience. Built a folder of images and cuttings ... that'll be where the shields should be !)

Unfortunately have nothing to be able to look through should the sun stay out.

Can one take a photo/video with ones phone?

Don't look directly, neither your eyes nor your phone's sensor are suitable !

Use a pinhole camera arrangement to project the sun and look at that.

in France (August 1999) my OH uses a shoebox for this
and in 2015 we used an aerial camera's lens to project the image ... it worked.

Cloudy, but breaking up.

using two pairs of polaroid type sunglasses rotated to give maximum cut-off ..
there's a bit missing off the sun's disc [10:25]...

Too cloudy here to see anything really. Although they had one about about 5 years ago that covered up about 80% or something (can't remember exactly) and the sky still didn't get very dark (at least in the uk)
