Help Android 11 update

Calamity1971

If Mr Peanut says It's okay, then it is.
My phone has updated to android 11 and is now bolloxed. Can't send or receive WhatsApp pictures and the play store apps aren't loading. Names disappeared from the whatsapp leaving only numbers? It's saying I have no storage and photos and SD is missing.
I've tried to look for help online but it's all bootloader gobbledegook etc to get back to android 10. Is there a simpler fix?
Cheers .

I assume you're tried restarting the phone? A hard reset may be in order: Reset your Android device to factory settings - Android Help

What is your phone, btw?

I've restarted it a couple of times. Was worried about a factory reset in case of losing banking apps and not backing photos up due to it not recognising SD card?
It's a Nokia 4.2.
Looking at Google search there are a lot having problems with the android 11 update.

Have you not backed up your photos via Google Photos?
I can see that there is an issue with SD cards not being recognised:

This is could be due to you needing to check your messages where there will be one from your service provider giving you new settings that will allow picture messages once more.

Hello - my Samsung A20e updated to Android 11 this week and now has a very annoying connectivity issue where certain apps won't connect to 4g. So I can't use the Internet or Maps if I'm not on WiFi  but can use emails, WhatsApp, Slack  It's driving me mad.

I am a total tech cavewoman so any advice would be good. Looking around, this seems like a fairly common bug and there's various things to try including wiping the system cache, taking the SIM card out and putting it back in, or a factory reset...I'm scared of doing this last one though because what if I haven't backed everything up properly or can't get back into all my apps?

Is it worth playing with the connection settings to see if this fixes it? This page is the first one you get when you enter the 'connections' option in settings (samsung A70, so may be a bit different to yours)

I've done a bit of that - roaming data keeps turning itself off  but even after turning it back on it doesn't work. Have reset network settings with no joy.
That's a bugger - I've no other suggestions as technology confuses me these days. There is a remote support option in 'Tips and user manual' if you're stuck on what to do next. Don't know if there is a cost associated with it.

I had the same problem with my Samsung A20e on Vodafone after updating to Android 11.
You need to set up a new APN.
These instructions for Android 9 show you how to set up the APN for Vodafone UK:

Ha, cross posted with you :) Thanks so much for posting this though, honestly it's been driving me mad. I use Maps all the time for driving and it was a huge stress suddenly not to know where I was going.

I did, yes.

Weirdly my husband has the exact same phone and network but hasn't had any issues? Perhaps he hasn't had the update yet...

I've fixed it! 💪 Had to put in new APN settings - apparently this is a Vodafone specific bug with this update.
Did you install an app? Mine is still being a knacker. I did the factory reset etc and I can't get messenger or business suite to work. I have FB purely to advertise my new business and it doesn't sodding work!

Facebook is telling you that you need to go the the Play store and install either Facebook Business Suite or Facebook Messenger. I don't think the error is to do with Android 11.
Edit: I did not read your message, which you said you can't get them working. I just commentated based on the image you posted.

No. It won't even let me delete caches ,it just goes back to home screen. Looked on loads of forums and the Nokia 4,2 seems to be the phone that got bolloxed by it.

It seems to be an SD card problem according to Nokia Community posters. Maybe try taking out the SD card and do another factory reset.

Done it and no joy. Thanks for trying though . I'm about to find a lake and see how many skims I can get out of it .
