Question Amazon Prime - some questions

oi oi - my Prime renewal date nears, so naturally, I have a few questions - wouldn't be here otherwise, would I?

I've never heard of anyone being offered a cheaper price by letting it lapse - the only freebie they do is the "first 30 days" introductory offer to hook you in the first place. Personally (leaving aside the ethics of relying on Amazon for everything) I found that Prime is good value just for the deliveries alone, especially around Christmas time - the free films and tv stuff is just an added bonus, not that I've watched all that much on there recently.

I recall paying £59 instead of £79 one year - can't recall why, though.
