Have you ever considered the position that such vulnerable people shouldn't be volunteers in the first place ? That they're a fucking hindrance ? Using the plight of others to validate themselves ? That they are plainly unfit for purpose ?

My opinion is that if they're causing problems then they shouldn't be there . If they're vulnerable ,out of their depth and contributing to problems then they shouldn't be there . That they're a hindrance, not a help . How is that slagging people off ?

She posted a pic of herself; you assumed from that photo that she is black; when she later mentioned being white, you accused her of being dishonest and having posted a picture of someone else; when others confirmed that the picture was of her, and that she's white, you failed to apologise for calling her a liar. you've been picking on the wrong targets.

The fault here lies with the government's and big aid agencies for causing / ignoring this problem and leaving it up to inexperienced and in many cases vulnerable volunteers to attempt to help as best they can. ETA and without that help there would be pretty much no support at all for the vast majority of people in the camp, meaning we'd have had scores of refugees dying on our doorstep last winter for want of the tents, sleeping bags, clothes, boots, and food that the volunteer effort you've slagged off managed to provide for them.

The fault is not with the well meaning but vulnerable volunteers who've found themselves in over their heads without the appropriate training or back up that would usually be in place in such situations. They're likely to also end up as traumatised victims of this situation who in many cases will suffer some level of PTSD as a result of their experiences.

That's basically what's wrong with your entire approach to this thread, and what's got people's backs up so much.

If there are any examples of people who've gone over specifically to exploit people for sex then that's a very different matter, but that's not what was being discussed on the facebook posts on which the report and this thread were based.
