Albania day trips from Corfu

Not sure from Corfu, but I was there this summer and it's an absolute gem.
The bad press it get's from well, just about all it's neighbors is absolute bollocks. :)

Just to say you've been there?

If it's easy and cheap enough, then why not at least stay there a few nights?

I once got a fair bit of the way there on a pedalo when I was 8.

Lucky you weren't shot at!

As for a day trip from Corfu... there's little to see in that bit of Albania, save for the inevitable concrete pillboxes Hoxha had built, more of them built than actual people living in Albania, though many have been blown up now.

I'd save it for another trip, Tirana is awesome and you won't get there and back in a day from Corfu without a decent 4x4.

I'd be wary of just rocking up on the shore, the evil regime may be gone but there are plenty of firearms in the south, and if you beach a boat on private land you might make the locals nervy...

It's an easy boat ride over to Sarande, the Albanian port opposite Corfu. It doesn't cost much - twenty quid or so, I seem to remember (did it 2 years ago, albeit in the other direction). Quite an interesting town, lively at night along the much tarted-up prom, though much spoiled in the last twenty years by monstrous development spreading out in all directions. There's an old fortress up above the town, but you'd probably need a taxi to get you there (and if you're visiting Albania, a car ride is an essential white knuckle ride!).
