Afghanistan ends all women’s education

The Taliban has been rolling back women’s rights since they took over but today they closed the very last door on women’s education by banning them from accessing medical education which was the only route left.

Women are not allowed to:

• Sing
• Speak in public
• Leave their homes unless accompanied by a man
• Have any education beyond childhood
• Have access to maternity care (or train as obstetricians or midwives meaning thousands will die in childbirth)
• Work (unless in very specific circumstances/jobs)
• Wear any clothes other than a head to foot loose black covering with the only bit of their body exposed is a mesh over their eyes.

The preference is for them to be indoors at all times.

Half the population has effectively been made into domestic and sexual slaves and there is so little coverage or protest. Starmer was going to meet Afghanistan at COP 24 but didn’t. But that’s it. No further condemnation.

The international community is silent while women are stripped of their human rights.

I remember when the Taliban blew up the Bamiyan Buddhas and it felt like there was more international outrage and coverage of that than the removal of women's freedoms and rights.

What should probably happen is all right thinking populations (countries) should join together and overthrow the Afghan government, establish new laws, run the country for a while until free and fair elections could be held. What happens if the Taliban win the election? I have no idea.

Was reading about this yesterday...why is no one saying anything ? are their lives so worthless, they are going to/already are losing their lives in droves in childbirth etc it makes me so angry. The international community obviously doesn't give a shit about these women and girls.

That has been tried before it didn’t work then doubt it will work again. The problem about dealing with the Taliban is they don't care what the rest of the world thinks and certainly not the likes of Sir Keir The Beige.

But it does one of the reasons that Afghanistan gets so little aid and support from the rest of the world is it comes with strings that the Taliban must improve its treatment of women.
Taliban just shrug and claim it's Allah's will and they won't be dictated too by infidels. How do you deal with people who want nothing from you and don't care what you say?
