A Touch of Cloth

andy2002

To the Bat-poles!
Anyone see this spoof cop show two-parter on Sunday/Monday? It was co-written by Charlie Brooker, starred Suranne Jones and John Hannah, and was clearly inspired by Police Squad/The Naked Gun. Very funny at times, with a keen eye for cop show cliches – the first five minutes (set on the 'Rundowne Estate') could have been lifted straight out of Line of Duty with only a few alterations.

It was quite funny. I thought it was a one-off but they seemed to be showing clips of another episode at the end.

Almost worked but something missing. Maybe a bit slow?

They could have cut 15-20 minutes out of it and not really lost anything too important. Some great gags though - I loved the way Todd Carty just turned up out of nowhere and then stuck around for no apparent reason.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Agree that it could have been a bit shorter, but every scene had a good joke in it.

I think the clips were a joke, but there will also be two more episodes that have nothing to do with that 'preview'.

And kept us old hippies amused with the Neil Young reference ('Oldman look at my life'). Lots of other silly references and jokes that I found very funny. John Hannah was great, like Leslie Neilsen there was just a slither of knowingness behind the po-faced performance.
