you're part of the problemI just listen to podcasts and mixes these days. I don't even have a CD player
What problem?you're part of the problem
CDs are actually not all that good tbh but I'd rather have a physical thing than just relying on technology/ virtual/ cyber stuff. So is this where we start to get 'CD-purists' who like to get all superior about their insistence on an out of date technology?
Absolutely. I've downloaded fucking thousands of albums (many of which I already own), and I've completely lost where the hell many of them are (on one of those DVD's, but which?). I could fill a dozen ipods, or any external hard drive. If it's worth keeping, it's worth buying 'properly' and putting it somewhere where it will turn up again.CDs are actually not all that good tbh but I'd rather have a physical thing than just relying on technology/ virtual/ cyber stuff.
Having said that I have bought a certain album twice (two diff versions) loaded it onto the computer, had the computer wipe it off and then not be able to find the *two* copies. How the fuck did that happen!Absolutely. my hifi equipment is not of sufficient calibre for me to be able to hear the loss in sound delivered by MP3, but having had a hard drive containing an entire festival's worth of recordings stolen, I prefer to keep physical CDs - they're not worth owt so don't get robbedSo is this where we start to get 'CD-purists' who like to get all superior about their insistence on an out of date technology?
it depends if it's a digi pack or a jewel case. Digi packs can look really really rough believe me and jewel cases are a pain because they just fall apart as soon as you look at them!Nostalgia alert:
I've never been a purist about the sound quality of vynyl, cds or downloads, but it's the physical thing I need. When cds came out I thought they were shitty sminky pinky things, nothing like proper sleeve art, don't age over time like the album cover with the red wins stain etc. Still don't like them, nasty little plastic boxes, but better than downloads. I just feel so fuckin' cheated paying 10 or 20 quid (or even nothing ) for something that just appears on a menu.
