List of those for whom Welfare Reform and cuts were too much to bear

...the DWP has succeed it under THatcher, she abolished SS in the early 1980s. I'm not of an opinion that New Labour would have willfully employed ATOS to do things negatively, the Civil Service however within the DWP would be another kettle of fish. I think the Civil Service are 90% of the...

...and the need to be tough on them, accompanied by sanctions. And the abolition of Incapacity Benefit and introduction of work capability assessments run by ATOS was legislated into existence under New Labour. The Tories ran with this enthusiastically but they didn't create it. New Labour did.

The Elizabeth Line (aka Crossrail) is go!

Can't manage to do the parliament thing, but the horse racing, then naming a train line after herself, fucking manages that with no issue, is ATOS on the case with this scrounger?

Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

One theory I read was that Putin sent them to the most dangerous area in the East so they'd get wiped out so no embarrassing war crime trials if they got captured.

Ukraine and the Russian invasion, 2022-24

I’ve just seen an extremely upsetting photojournalist report on Bucha and if these are the guys that did it I hope they died roaring the cunts. I’ll not link it here. It’s too graphic but Eliot Higgins has retweeted it on his timeline if you are interested. It was on Yahoo, I was not expecting...

To be fair, if I had armoured and unarmoured vehicles, I'd also put the dead soldiers in the latter.

List of those for whom Welfare Reform and cuts were too much to bear

Thank you! It really pisses me off how easily people have forgotten it was New Labour that brought in the cruel tests, outsourced to the likes of Atos and Capita. They dropped Incapacity Benefit, which many people relied on, and instead brought in the Work Capability Assessments, designed to...

List of those for whom Welfare Reform and cuts were too much to bear

...necessary under his watch. And during the tail end of the New Labour years - on Brown's watch - the draconian disability testing regime by ATOS was legislated into existence. Yes the evil Tories inherited it ready to go and ran enthusiastically with it, but it was New Labour's baby. We must...

The war and "the left" - what do "we" do?

Absolutely. The flip side is recognising that most of us are not in this war. We are (mostly) commenting from the sidelines. I don't know "the answer" is either. I doubt there is one. I also doubt whether "we" need to find it.

The war and "the left" - what do "we" do?

thing is it's all very well saying stuff like 'no war but the class war' (and i agree) but its a bit of an abstract slogan in this context, since there is a war there, whether you like it or not. and advocating that people didn't fight or fought 'on a class basis' would basically be taken to...

BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

I don't think Brewdog did say they were going to pay for them themselves. In their August 2021 report it says

BrewDog: yet another hip company using 'rebel' language to sell its stuff

Did ATOS also apply for a government grant for the trees after saying they were going to pay for them themselves?

Hundreds of Post Office workers ‘vindicated’ by High Court ruling over faulty Post Office IT system

In the case of the software used by various companies for assessing those on disability and sickness benefits, the license to the software was a ridiculous number of millions of pounds. ATOS literally made a killing with it (many killings in fact).
