Your Seven Wonders of the World

I just went to the pyramids in Sudan which are (apparently) older than those in Egypt but a lot smaller - there are also no tourists whatsoever so you get a special feeling like you're the only person to have ever seen them. I thought they were amazing :)

Did you get the little kids appearing from miles away selling you crap model pyramids?

They would easily be in my 7 wonders.

3) Monument Valley (see above)

4) Las Vegas

5) Cichin Itza, Mexico

6) Great Wall of China

7) = Denali National Park
= Spitzbergen

Nope, but these are the ones near Kareema, not the ones near Shendi (where the Italian camp it etc) They are still aces tho!

Theres two Meroes iirc correctly.

Mine were near Shendi yeah. Look damn similar though!

Found some ruined palace in the desert near there too.

Wasn't such a good idea to hitch there and back from Shendi though....

In terms of places I've been to...

That view from the Park over Florence

The 7 most wonderful sights I’ve seen:

1). Taj Mahal
2). Angkor Thom
3). Norwegian Fjords
4). The town of Goslar
5). The Royal Palace of Bangkok
6). Victoria Falls
7). The pyramids at Giza

I still haven’t yet seen the mosaic mosques of Uzbekistan or Machu Pichu.

it was amazing but climbing it in flipflops was not a good idea and when I finally got to nearly the top and I turned around I nearly bloody died, getting down was not fun or ladylike either, my OH went up and down it like a mountain goat the fucker!

we got the men to cycle us through as we had young kids with us, it was really magical, we didn't see any crocs in the lake but we did see lots of tarantulas crossing the roads

tulum for me was not all that, maybe it was because it was just way too hot and there was nowhere to hide from the sun despite getting there when it opened - I much preferred the jungle scene of coba - the drive to coba was great too

did you go to xel-ha when you were there?

Did you stay in Coba?

Spent 3 nights there. Very, very, very quiet. Just us, some beers and the crocs.

I didn't go to Xel-ha. Whilst in Tulum really couldn't be bothered to go very far tbh.

I'd recomend Valladolid and Merida as good places to stay in the region too.

The cenotes are pretty cool too. Went to quite a few. Cave snorkelling is:cool:

we stayed just outside tulum and loved it, we hired a car for a week and did all the usual tourist sites - the kids really loved it and we all long to go back there, we didn't do any cenote swimming as the children were too scared and young, we did however find a crack in the seabed where the fresh underground water came up into the sea, that was really amazing

xel-ha was amazing and it's one place I highly recommend - I definitely would spend another day there

Not really sure about NYC. It seems to be lacking something.

Loving the Mayan temples though.

So many places to go, so many people to meet :)

Like most big cities I've visited I felt it lacked a sense of community. If you live in these cities I guess you find a place for yourself in them, but they really don't do it for me.

I lived in NYC for ten years. It's a collection of small communities, but I can see how you might miss that if you're just visiting.

but there is something really magical about that island

as for sri lanka - sigera is amazing and the climb is easy but adam's peak - ok going up but coming down - eek
