That wonderfully progressive Greens Party is about to bring in scab labour

Strike busting Council employees (life guards) being used to clear rubbish from the sea front. Also people, not sure who they are, are going round centre of town with bin bags picking shit up whilst rattling a fuckin' donation bucket!

e2a; They say they're doing it for the council, yet no ID or waste carrying permits.

I was a member, for my sins. Left a couple of years ago. Partly my politics have simply developed away from electoral and party stuff but mainly they are a party with a great manifesto that bears no relation to the right wing middle class beliefs of the elected party and the leadership, bar Caroline Lucas. There is no class or strategic analysis and many members see it rather like being in Friends of the Earth. I was dismayed by the amount of red baiting, malthusianism and consumerism. I still think she's a good MP, as these things go, and there are still some ok people managing not to get kicked out but given any political power they will capitulate and become an Irish Greens mark 2 within seconds. And Kitkat truly is an arsehole of outstanding proportions.

What happened to the Green Left or Left Green group (i forget the correct name)? I remember hearing of one...

The Green Party may be small but i guess its a lot like Labour/Tories or LibDems in that it is a coalition of sorts with a spectrum of political positions within it. That Executive Committee sounds like a nightmare

When I did that for a charity nigh on twenty years ago, I had to carry a permit slip stamped by the Guards, and be ready to produce it if anyone challenged me (thought no one ever did).

This was in Ireland, but I can't imagine that UK law is that different. Try challenging these bods the next time you see them.

A few Brighton residents were slated today on twitter/fb.

Ref the Life Guards, they've been told that they're only allowed to clear rubbish from certain beach areas - H&S issue, & that's it.

Day 5 tomorrow, & it's really is starting to stink!

Town centre looks like london now :( a right state.
Seen loads of bin lorries about but they are all commercial waste bods.
This isnt even a green policy its what the concil officers reccomended and kitkat was too inexperianced to realize how stupid the recomendation was:(

Bish  ...just to say I got up half an hour early this morning...so I copied that poster, taped it over with sellotape (in for the long haul....and in preparation for the thunderstorms :hmm: :D )...stuck it on my bin, then wheeled my bin up the steps :D (feel like a bit of a knob for that bit...all my neighbours just left theirs down the bottom of the steps, obv :D ).

We had two missed collections up here, btw (just up the road from the depot)....but goes without saying that I wish em luck.
Radio at work (Southern fm) is pissing me off...regular short interviews with *outraged residents*....stupid cunts

Nice one Sheo!

No more news to report, other than all City Clean workers have been called for a union meeting tomorrow afternoon.

Mark Turner, GMB branch secretary said: “We have got absolutely nowhere with negotiations. It's ridiculous that they have said the talks have been 'fruitful', they haven't been, it has been one way traffic. We put a number of proposals forward but had nothing back. It has been a waste of time. We are not going to be part of their PR stunt.”

Strike set to continue into next week.

Meanwhile, the turnip headed Tory MP for Hove Mike Weatherley, is all for scab labour;

Mike has joined local Brighton & Hove Conservatives in urging the Green Administration to use powers that are available to it to bring in temporary workers to cover for striking staff. This comes as Green MP Caroline Lucas was caught supporting the strike just as it dawns on residents that the sad reality is that the Greens can never be trusted to run anything ever again.
