I appreciate that this is not a direct comment on the matter at hand, but it does need said. Roman Catholics of today are not responsible for the actions of the Church in times past. The 'sins of the fathers' are not the burden of the children. No matter what the Church has done, or not done, in the past is unchangeable, it is what it does going forward that matters.

Looks like my random speculation was correct about Galloways attacker - I found a blog which reprints another extract from this brain surgeons great thought (I won't link to it, and, health warning, since I can't find the original I can't be certain the following has been accurately reproduced).

This time it's an open letter to David Cameron (as you do - one great man to another) :

I see this Masterson fella's linked to Britain First on his FB page. Personally, I think the bloke has some serious issues.

For the avoidance of any doubt, this is a fight we can't leave to our beloved families.
One of two diametrically things can happen: we can sit idly by, and watch the hateful, envious antisemitism in this country keep on rising, and see our best guests of the last two thousand years leave for Israel; saddened to leave us but left no choice.
How many more nails would it take in our coffin? Would the bells ever really ring again?
There is another option. It is going to be hard work, it will take effort of mind body and spirit, but I can promise you this... It is the easiest decision you will really ever have to make.

The Telegraph report of his remand hearing quotes the prosecutor as saying

I like George Galloway. And the fact that some of the most annoying posters on these boards don't like him, adds an extra lustre to him for me.
