Aye, and I thank you for your sarcastic response, but on the whole I am heartened by the change in attitude here in the NE towards women, brought about more by socialism than any feminist movement, education and a sense of decency has brought this about,rather than any feminist movement, Andy Capp and his marras largely became history because of education, not Germaine Greer.

TBF though, in the case of Orthodox and ultra-Orthodox Jews in the state of Israel, this was always going to happen. It was established as a Jewish state, with Judaism the hegemonic and officially-sanctioned religion. There was speculation earlier that the events on NYE could have been somehow organized by ringleaders. Personally, I doubt this is the case and believe it is more likely to be a more organic phenomon something akin to the kind of organization that was around in the 60's with youth subcultures such as the mods, when they, by word of mouth, ended up descending in droves on Brighton, where they slightly ran amok and beat up the rockers. They didn't have leaders pointing the way but shared a common mindset and aspirations for action which brought them together.

I'm getting at the subculture mentality here. For me the shared mindset of the NYE abusers is one that tells them that not only are their own women inferior but that western women are "whores". Before anyone attacks me, I am quoting Kristin Spitznogle, a rape victim therapist from Oslo.
