Horrible Mansplainy Video about "Nice Men"

"We may seek a fortune for no greater reason than to secure the respect and attention of people who would otherwise look straight through us."

De Botton has described his relationship with his father as difficult, stating: "When I sold my first bestseller (and a million dollars was peanuts for my father) he was not impressed and wondered what I was going to do with myself." When his father died, his family was left a large inheritance, although de Botton says his income is derived solely from his own activities (book sales, speaking engagements, business consulting, The School of Life).

I've no appetite for getting involved in this, and i stay clear of talking about such things on the boards, but since no one else has said it and there have been many contrary voices, I need to add my experience which is that blue balls pain is not a myth...have experienced it countless times. It doesn't happen on every non ejaculation, but it can happen and it is painful.

Of course if anyone has been using this as a justification for forcing sexual acts, that's awful.

what, they actually go blue? I find it hard to imagine teenage boys suffering from it, or even men tbh.

That's a new one on me - only time I had issues was with my first time with viagra and meth - I was walking like John Wayne for a few days and had to manspread on the tube due to pain after - grim!

Another funny one is I used to get intense headaches (basically migrane) when I was close to ejaculation a decade back. I'm not sure my new gf at the time believed me but after searching online it was a "thing" - hey ho.

Probably too much info :)

Not particularly blue, no. That seems to be an expression. Don't try and imagine it, its just a fact.

I experienced it more as a teenager but still do as an adult.

You're a guy?! :eek::oops:

It doesn't make any sense. I mean, yeah, I have rude thoughts and I don't shout them out at the till in the supermarket but so what? The video is completely baffling. It doesn't ring true with me as a man at all. This isn't an issue I'm struggling with. All people have some amount of inappropriate thoughts passing through their mind much of the time, regardless of what genitalia they've got wobbling around in their undercarriage.

It doesn't even seem to have done decent market research on what I presume to be its sexist target audience. It's just confusing and a bit strange. The idea that guys are are dead horny and women are frigid ice maidens is a problem that doesn't exist. The sex thing can get worked out by a couple in a pair of simple conversations. What does it mean?

I just don't understand really.

All help welcome.

Any psychologist will view "inappropriate thoughts", and the fact of NOT acting on them, as healthy socialisation, not as something worthy of reward from compliant females. That video is purely sexist whataboutery, demanding compensation for acting in a manner that is merely legally and socially civil. Fuck the sad masculinist bastards. With a traffic cone.

but but but, sorry to get into detail, can't you just have a wank? surely such relief is available readily, esp if you're a teen? are you talking about over the course of a relationship or over the course of a session of 'heavy petting'? cos i've certainly experienced some discomfort during the latter when I was younger.

Can a mod please change the title to "Men's discomfort" and we can chat about all penis related issues here :)

Yes, ejaculating is the only cure.
Sometimes the pain kicks in a good deal later, the next day even. It can mean having to deal with the pain through the day

I can't help but think of this School of Life as a modern day School for Scoundrels teaching people how to cheat at tennis etc.
