Guess the weight

I think it's nice.

Thank you Geri (assuming you're being serious!)

If you saw how small my flat is, you'd see that every ounce of storage space is valuable to me. Now I've got central heating (or rather, haven't) and they've emptied the cold water tank, I've got a bit more storage space up there as well.

I do have one small concern though. My walls aren't solid. Hope they'll be able to take the weight

Is a bit bigger than I thought it would be as well

Just so Mrs Quoad :p

I haven't put it up on the wall yet though

Yeah, ok, it looks orright in your bathroom.

And it's well small.

It's a great size, and it's deep enough to hold three bottles of Aussie Hair shampoo in a row so that's plenty of room for toiletries.Still worried about attaching it to a non-solid wall though

Put a shelf underenath extending out beyond both sides of cabinet for extra storage and also spreading the weight across more wall. If most of what you store in there is liquids, the weight will be quite significant on top of the 12kg it already weighs.

won't the battens in the plasterboard be enough?

Assuming the timbers are in the right places to screw into....

Personally I never trust the fixings on flatpack wall cabinets and make sure I have a batten or battens firmly attached to the wall then have the cabinet sitting on that.

I'm even a bit sceptical of just relying on attaching to the plasterboard itself - even using butterfly fixings.

My kitchen is suspended on 8mm threaded rods hanging from noggins attached to the bathroom floor joists above .. you could sleep on my shelves. :D

This.

TBF, kitchen cupboards usually end up a lot heavier than bathroom ones, but I cannot imagine there is much worse than the sound of your bathroom cabinet crashing off the drywall at 3 in the morning, except, perhaps, for the sounds of breaking glass/plastic and the drip-drip-drip of their contents, mingling on the tiles.

So I'd be going for quite assertive ways of ensuring it doesn't fall off the wall. At the very least locate the noggins holding the drywall up and fix into those; failing that, butterfly screw and No More Nails a batten onto the wall and fix to that, per GG's advice. I really, really wouldn't consider relying on the drywall.

If she put a baton on the wall with more screws (or even... bolts?!) than you'd think, would the weight be EVEN more evenly distributed? She could do loads countersunk and then put woodfiller over if it looks ugly. And then the cabinet on that as suggested? What are the holes like Minnie? Could you drill more?

Small holes, four of them. The alternative is to put it on the only solid wall above the toilet which sounds safer. Will just have to hope it doesn't drop on my head when I'm on the loo :D
