Orang Utan
Psychick Worrier Ov Geyoor
I just had a look at Un Chanson D'Amour and there are no stripey jerseys. Hmm. I have remembered it wrong. Perhaps I'm remembering a book cover or am thinking of a Guy Maddin short
On you, I like it. OTOH as with Orang Utan, IMHO you are one of those people who could wear a half rotted sack and still make it work.oh, ok. it doesn't feature any rude pics (although I do have a tom of finland shirt upstairs somewhere).<snip>
I was going to *tap my foot* impatiently, but then I saw:A vintage homoerotic sailors shirt.
oh, ok. it doesn't feature any rude pics (although I do have a tom of finland shirt upstairs somewhere). Just the only info I could find about the maker (Vince of London) suggests it's connected to a beefcake photographer of the 1950s.
anyway, what do we think?

DealYou can wrestle me for it.
killer b said:Loake are decent quality british-made shoes, and second hand shouldn't be a problem - they're made with re-soling in mind, and will last forever if looked after properly. Paul Smith makes fashion shoes, I wouldn't bother.
What size are you voley?
killer b said:Don't just look for loakes - they're decent enough, but there's better Northampton shoemakers, and if you're scouring ebay anyway you might as well keep an eye out: Trickers, Alfred Sargent, grenson and Crockett & Jones are all better IMO, and sometimes crop up for a reasonable price.
Brogues always make me think of the Mr MenThese are my Trickers brogues - I picked them up for a couple of quid a few years ago. They'd had a hard life and the soles were fucked: I wore them for a bit anyway, but the soles actually started falling apart a few months ago. I've just had them resoled, and they're like a new pair of shoes - I wore them hard in the rain all day yesterday, and there was no leaks or anything.
Trickers are probably the heaviest construction of the 4 I've mentioned, but they're all solidly built.
I have some by Howick and I never want to wear any other shoes now. They sell them at House Of Fraser. I'll see if I can find a link. I've had another pair of non-brogue shoe by them and they are both the comfiest fit I've worn, shoes wise.I need some decent brogues for work and am tired of buying cheap and often. Currently keeping my eye on some second-hand Loakes on Ebay atm. Brand new is way out of my price range but I've seen some that look in decent nick go for reasonable prices recently.
Am I right in thinking Loakes are built to last and buying an older pair shouldn't be a problem?
Also, anyone ever had any by Paul Smith? Some of them go for reasonable prices second-hand.
That's why I was put off them for years. I think it was Mr Silly who wore them.My best mate calls those my mr men shoes, as it happens.
Proper jobOn Saturday I was wandering around the market in Plymouth that I used to go to as a kid to get me records and books and that. There was a ladies clothes stall and it was mostly ghastly but there was a 3/4 length cotton skirt that caught my eye - black, bias cut, with a white pattern! Now, its one thing being an out and about trans woman confidently buying clothing in London, but Plymouth is a different matter.
I was a bit nervous but I really wanted this skirt so I checked the size - my size - and picked it up and went to the guy behind the counter. I don't think he even read me!! And now I have a really nice skirt that you probably couldn't buy in London!
This frock:I had a bit of a splurge yesterday. 2 frock for Xmas parties (but which may not fit). And three bra and knicker sets.
