Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

I just had a look at Un Chanson D'Amour and there are no stripey jerseys. Hmm. I have remembered it wrong. Perhaps I'm remembering a book cover or am thinking of a Guy Maddin short

oh, ok. it doesn't feature any rude pics (although I do have a tom of finland shirt upstairs somewhere).<snip>
On you, I like it. OTOH as with Orang Utan, IMHO you are one of those people who could wear a half rotted sack and still make it work.

A vintage homoerotic sailors shirt.
I was going to *tap my foot* impatiently, but then I saw:

oh, ok. it doesn't feature any rude pics (although I do have a tom of finland shirt upstairs somewhere). Just the only info I could find about the maker (Vince of London) suggests it's connected to a beefcake photographer of the 1950s.

anyway, what do we think?

This. Now, I'll admit I have a stonking great big bit of a thing for Breton stripes, but holy moly :oops::eek::cool::thumbs::oops: if you don't keep that I will never speak to you again b. And if we ever meet again, you better bloody wear it ;)

The above is tempered with a streak of I WANT IT GIVE IT ME! :D

i've got Loake shoes and Barker shoes (all many, many years old..), and while these aren't quite Loakes or Barkers (£250 a pair, and not a pair of pairs..) they are easily comparable to the Barbour Ilkley (£140 a pair). very sturdy and very comfortable once you've worn them in a bit. i've had them 3 weeks now, and as far as i'm concerned i've got £350 worth of shoes for a hundred notes.

I need some decent brogues for work and am tired of buying cheap and often. Currently keeping my eye on some second-hand Loakes on Ebay atm. Brand new is way out of my price range but I've seen some that look in decent nick go for reasonable prices recently.

Am I right in thinking Loakes are built to last and buying an older pair shouldn't be a problem?

Also, anyone ever had any by Paul Smith? Some of them go for reasonable prices second-hand.

Loake are decent quality british-made shoes, and second hand shouldn't be a problem - they're made with re-soling in mind, and will last forever if looked after properly. Paul Smith makes fashion shoes, I wouldn't bother.

What size are you voley?

9, sometimes 9.5.

Don't just look for loakes - they're decent enough, but there's better Northampton shoemakers, and if you're scouring ebay anyway you might as well keep an eye out: Trickers, Alfred Sargent, grenson and Crockett & Jones are all better IMO, and sometimes crop up for a reasonable price.

Excellent. Thanks for that. Never heard of them before so shall broaden my search.

These are my Trickers brogues - I picked them up for a couple of quid a few years ago. They'd had a hard life and the soles were fucked: I wore them for a bit anyway, but the soles actually started falling apart a few months ago. I've just had them resoled, and they're like a new pair of shoes - I wore them hard in the rain all day yesterday, and there was no leaks or anything.

Trickers are probably the heaviest construction of the 4 I've mentioned, but they're all solidly built.

Brogues always make me think of the Mr Men :)

Not really a new purchase but today I got 2 pairs of shoes and a pair of boots back from the cobblers - they were long overdue it so it feels like having 3 new pairs and I already know that I love them, wear them loads and that they're comfortable

I have some by Howick and I never want to wear any other shoes now. They sell them at House Of Fraser. I'll see if I can find a link. I've had another pair of non-brogue shoe by them and they are both the comfiest fit I've worn, shoes wise.

Incidentally Voley, if british made isn't that important, TK Maxx are getting a lot of very solidly made brogues in at the moment - The Chapman & Moore and John White shoes they seem to get a load of seem very decent quality (I have a pair of the John Whites which are great). Made in india, but the craftsmanship seems up to scratch.

Not actually bought yet because I had a bus to catch, but there's a leather jacket (£15) and a Hugo Boss suit jacket that fits me really well (£8) waiting for me to pick them up from the charity shop tomorrow. There was also a coat like this that I liked but didn't ask to be kept aside - might buy it if it's still there tomorrow though. I don't really need another jacket and there's a big metal popper badly sewn on under the buttons that'll be visible when it's undone and I'm not 100% sure about the sleeves (that knitted bit at the bottom is attached inside the shorter sleeves), but I like the colour and it did look good on and it's only £7 :hmm:

On Saturday I was wandering around the market in Plymouth that I used to go to as a kid to get me records and books and that. There was a ladies clothes stall and it was mostly ghastly but there was a 3/4 length cotton skirt that caught my eye - black, bias cut, with a white pattern! Now, its one thing being an out and about trans woman confidently buying clothing in London, but Plymouth is a different matter.

I was a bit nervous but I really wanted this skirt so I checked the size - my size - and picked it up and went to the guy behind the counter. I don't think he even read me!! And now I have a really nice skirt that you probably couldn't buy in London! :)

Proper job :)

I've not posted much on here recently as I'm now trying to live within my means :(

Yesterday's charity shopping in Ilkley just produced a Jack Wills red lambswool cardigan. I don't usually do Jack Wills as it's a bit preppy for me but this cardi is lovely and also quite 'christmassy'

I bought this for Christmas parties.

The sizing is so ridiculously small it's going back. It was like a crop top on me :D They do have it in a size bigger but I think that would still be too small. Annoying.

I also bought these which I am keeping along with a couple of pairs of leggings and some basic tops.
