welcome to urban
most gyms will do you a program when you join. try doing that and sticking to it and then getting regularly reassessed.
there is nothing decadent about doing this, it is your fitness, do what works for you.
although walking more is the best advice as well.
Of all the forms of exercise I've tried, joining a gym and following the same program on the same machines has got to be the dullest way of trying to get fit. Not exactly suited for someone who describes themselves as lazy...hell gyms take on far more members cos they have capacity for as they know how many will stop going.
At least a personal trainer could mix things up and keep it interesting. Well I assume they could as I've never used one.
They're not cheap though. Personal trainers usually cost £50/£60 hour and go up to £150 an hour.
Banker I know pays 2k an hour. Is still fat too....They're not cheap though. Personal trainers usually cost £50/£60 hour and go up to £150 an hour.

Do you think the NHS will pay for the 'really lazy' opening poster?
Reading the whole thread is usually a good idea before getting gobby.don't be such a fucking toilet
Personal Trainers really are a truly decadent invention: you're paying someone to make you get off your arse because you can't be bothered to do it yourself.
Yes. 'Decadent' as in a response to the opening post where the person declared themselves too "lazy" to get off their "lardarse" and do anything for themselves.Nope I did that and your first posts were fairly negative, "decadent" was bandied round.
Try not to make everyfuckingthing a class issue
Shame you didn't pick up a dictionary from this 'table' and read it. A common use for the word 'decadent' is to mean "luxuriously self-indulgent," and that was my response to the OP's 'too lazy to get off their lardarse' comment. You said 'personal trainers are a truly decadent invention'.
Phrased like that I'd say it lays your class-based position clearly on the table.

Whatever. I know what I meant, thanks. I think maybe you need to get a new dictionary too because it's making your pedantic 'arguments' look a little desperate.Wriggling with meaning no. 7 in the dictionary isn't going to help.
'Decadent invention'. Not an invention that can be used decadently. A decadent invention.
Not a bad effort, though.
Ah, great. A new debating tack to replace the last misfiring number.I'm surprised you didn't accuse the OP of being a late 19th century poet tbf.

Oh, you're back on this again, now with added selective quoting. Marvellous stuff. We all know what you meant.
Personal trainers are a truly decadent invention.
You meant 'luxurious'. Makes perfect sense now I think about it, yes indeedy.

Bored now. You do need to get a better dictionary though.
If only you'd said that at the start!Jeeesus, wasn't expecting to come back to see all this. I suppose I should clarify first that actually this isn't just down to laziness despite what I first wrote. It's due to a severe lack of motivation due to suffering from depression on and off for a few years.
If only you'd said that at the start!
Please accept my apologies for my previous comments.
Do you have any mates that would be willing to do this with you? Quite a few personal trainers will offer a rate for 2/3 people that's usually only a few quid more than their one-to-one rate - might bring the price down a bit once you find a trainer, and mean you can have a few more sessions. And no, I'm not rich, I'm broke but I saved a little from my birthday money and my mum gave me £50 to put towards it.
But surely by seeking to get a personal trainer they are at least taking some sort of pro-active approach? Clearly not actually 'too lazy to get off their lardarse', just could do with a helping hand to stay off their lardarse. As has been said, a personal trainer can fulfil a range of requirements, and one of those can be helping motivate someone who perhaps isn't great at motivating themselves (and I speak as one of those people). Self-motivation is a skill just like anything else in life, and we're not all born with the innate ability.Shame you didn't pick up a dictionary from this 'table' and read it.
